Amongst the early plants to bloom in the Spring (around the middle of April in my USDA Zone 5b garden) is Galanthus nivalis commonly known as Snowdrops. This planting of Snowdrops is thriving beneath a dwarf white pine where it has been happily growing for about 15 years in a partial shade location. Easily grown but not easy to find it can be propagated by carefully digging up the plant after the foliage has died back, separating the bulbs and then replanting the bulbs where desired. The plants will bloom the following Spring.
