After you harvest your peppers you should wash them in fresh water to wash off any garden debris and especially pesticide residues if you are using store bought peppers. The next step is to remove the tops as shown and then scrape out the internal ribbing with a tablespoon as shown above. Give them another rinse so that the insides are clean and free of seeds. Additionally, at dead center at the bottom of the pepper is a scar left by the flower. This should be removed by taking the point of a small, sharp knife using a drilling motion to cut it out and remove. Once this task is completed you should have a small hole in the bottom of the pepper. After this procedure give the peppers a final rinse in cold water.
