This is an image of a semi-dwarf 'Macfree' apple tree. It was developed to be resistant to cedar apple rust, a fungus disease. As the image clearly shows, the lower limbs have been browsed clean by whitetail deer, but even with the apparent deer damage a significant harvest of apples was still achieved. I found that the fruit was a bit tart due to the lack of rain this summer, but little diminished otherwise. |
