This is an image of an asian pear I cultivate named 'Twentieth Century'. The plant is somewhat susceptible to mold but the fruit remains edible without any pesticide applications. In dry summers like the one we just experienced (2005) the incidence of mold was reduced. An exceptional year for a USDA zone 6 rated plant growing in USDA hardiness zone 5b.
