This composite image is named "Four Mile" because it designates one of the Bella Coola Indian Reservation boundaries. The Bella Coola Indians have exclusive fishing rights on the Bella Coola river (or they used to) from its mouth which empties into the Pacific Ocean up to this demarcation known locally as "Four Mile". No White Man is allowed to fish in these waters. Wasn't it generous of the White Man to offer the Bella Coola Indians such a pittance in exchange for what the White Man took from the Indians and continues to take from the Indians? It is time for greed and profit to come to an end. Mother Earth has no more to give. Would you like to learn more? *Offsite - Nuxalk Nation |
